It is high up on a mountain top, and must have been very imposing. Now that it is uninhabited, pines and sakura grow on the grounds. What it is famous for is the fact that occasionally, in autumn, clouds surround the castle and give it a rather surreal appearance.
So it is often called "the castle in the clouds".

The castle is a longish walk from the railway station, but taxis are available. I regret never visiting it!
